Latest Video of Flying over Pluto was Just Released, and it's Stunning
When NASA’s latest Horizons spacecraft flew past Pluto for
the first time in record on July 14, we got some stunning photos of the dwarf
planet's surface, but, unluckily, there was no video of this historic flyby —
until now! test out this magnificent video of the flyby that Bjorn Jonsson just
uploaded on Vimeo, and see for yourself what it would have been like to journey
on the unmanned spacecraft as it dipped to just 7,800 miles above Pluto's
surface. Jonsson made this awesome video by assembling the several photos that
New Horizons took as it approached and ultimately passed Pluto. NASA's latest
Horizons spacecraft is the fastest ever made, so when it flew by Pluto it was
moving at speeds of over 20,000 mph. Jonsson's video compresses the time latest
Horizons took, which was nearly two hours it, to reach Pluto, fly over, and
pass Pluto into presently 16 seconds.
